MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State (5-9-1, 5-9-1 WCHA) edged Bemidji State (2-9-2, 2-9-2 WCHA) with a 1-0 overtime win in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action Friday night.

The contest saw the Mavericks dominate the Beavers offensively, outshooting the in-state rival 29-17. However, it took 60:45 to declare a winner once Mavericks' sophomore forward Kelsey King scored 45 seconds into overtime to earn MSU its' fifth win of the season. Mavericks' sophomore goaltender Calla Frank made the overtime thriller possible, stopping all 17 shots she faced to earn her second shutout of the season.

In the second period, the game remained scoreless while MSU outshot BSU 12-5. After two periods of scoreless play, MSU led the shots department 21-7.

In the third period, BSU pushed back to outshoot MSU 10-7. After 60 minutes of scoreless play, the game required extra time to declare a winner.

The Mavericks only needed one shot and 45 seconds to come out on top in the extra period. King started the play by entering the zone on the right wall before dropping it back to Brittyn Fleming who passed to Tristen Truax in the left corner before she laid one up to King in the high slot. King didn't hold back on her shot that beat BSU's netminder Kerrigan Dowhy just over her glove, off the crossbar and into the net to win the game 45 seconds into overtime.

In net for the Mavericks, Frank (4-7-1) earned her second shutout of the season and fourth of her career by stopping all 17 shots she faced. The Mavericks sophomore netminder now holds a 3-0-1 record against the Beavers this season. For the Beavers, Dowhy (2-8-2) was perfect up until the end stopping 28 of 29 shots in the loss.
