MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team will return to the road this weekend for a pair of games against Sioux Falls after splitting a two-game series with the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs last week. Friday, Jan 29th, the Mavericks and Cougars will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday the teams will begin action at 4:00 p.m.

Mavericks at a Glance: Last weekend the Mavericks split a pair of games against the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs. Friday night Minnesota State fell to the Mustangs 75-66 and Saturday evening, the Mavericks earned a bounce back 68-61 win.

Stat Pack: As a team, Minnesota State is averaging 74.4 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 74.6. Additionally, the Mavericks average 43.9 rebounds per
game and dish out 13.4 assists per game while stealing the ball 12.3 times per game.

Impact Mavericks: Senior wing Tayla Stuttley is the leading scorer for the Mavericks averaging 13.6 points per game while adding 5.4 rebounds per game. Senior forward Rachel Shumski is the second leading scorer for Minnesota State averaging 13.4 points per game to go along with 7.0 boards per game which leads the Mavericks. Sophomore guard Joey Batt is also averaging 12.4 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game.

About Sioux Falls: Last weekend Sioux Falls split a pair of games against Concordia-St. Paul. The Cougars are led by 13th year head coach Travis Traphagen. 

Sioux Falls top offensive threat is junior guard Anna Brecht who is averaging 18.7 points per game while also ranking second on the team in rebounds with 6.2 boards per game. Anna Goodhope (11.8 ppg) and Hannah Jones (11.3 ppg) both average double digit scoring for the Cougars. Dallie Hoskinson is the leading rebounder for Sioux Falls averaging 9.5 boards per game.

As a team, Sioux Falls averages 74.2 points per game compared to their opponents 66.8 points per game. The Cougars average 42.5 rebounds per game and average 3.8 blocks per contest.

For the teams, these games will mark the 17th and 18th all-time meeting with the Mavericks and Cougars. Last season, Minnesota State dropped both contests against Sioux Falls.

Looking Ahead: After the two-game series with the Cougars the Mavericks will remain to the road for a pair of games against Winona State. Friday, Feb. 5th the game will tip-off at 6:00 p.m., and Saturday the teams will begin play at 2:00 p.m.
