Mavericks Return Home For Games Against the Golden Eagles and Beavers

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team (11-9, 8-8 NSIC) will return home for a pair of conference games this weekend against the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles and the Bemidji State Beavers.  Friday, the Mavericks take on the Golden Eagles with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.  Saturday, MSU will face-off with the Beavers with the game slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
 
Mavericks at a Glance: Minnesota State (11-9, 8-8 NSIC), enters the week with an 11-9 record after dropping a pair of games on the road last weekend against MSU Moorhead and Northern State.
 
Stat Pack: As a team, Minnesota State is averaging 74.3 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 70.4. Additionally, the Mavericks average 41.6 rebounds per game and dish out 13.2 assists per game while stealing the ball 12.3 times per game.
 
Impact Mavericks: Senior guard Kirstin Klitzke is the leading scorer for the Mavericks, averaging 10.3 points per game as well as averaging 3.0 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Tayla Stuttley the team's second leading scorer, averaging 9.0 points per game as well as a team leading 2.4 assists per game.  Sophomore center Kristi Fett is the leading rebounder for the Mavericks, averaging 5.9 boards per game while adding 8.7 points per game.
 
Youth Movement: Several underclassmen are making an early impact for the Mavericks this season. Center Kristi Fett is averaging 8.7 points per game while also averaging 5.9 rebounds a game.  Freshman guard Shea Fuller is averaging 5.2 points per game this season.  Freshman guard Joey Batt is averaging 8.4 points per game to go along with 1.6 steals per contest.
 
Bench Squad: The bench players for the Mavericks have outscored their opponents 704-369 to date this season.
 
Scouting Minnesota Crookston:  Minnesota Crookston is located in Crookston, Minn., and is currently 4-16 (3-13 NSIC) on the season. The Golden Eagles are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  Crookston is led by head coach Mike Roysland who is in his 14th season as the leader of the program. 
 
As a team this season, the Golden Eagles net 61.1 points per game in comparison to their opponents' 74.3. Crookston also snatches 35.8 rebounds and dishes out 9.9 assists per contest.
 
The Golden Eagles are led by junior forward Abby Guidinger who averages 10.0 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds per game. Sophomore center Bren Fox is the leading rebounder for Crookston, averaging 6.4 rebounds per game and contributing 8.0 points per contest.
 
Friday's game will mark the 24th all-time meeting between these two programs, the most recent of which was a 84-71 win for the Mavericks last season.
 
Scouting Bemidji State:  Bemidji State is located in Bemidji, Minn., and is currently 7-13 (4-12 NSIC) on the season. The Beavers are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  Bemidji State is led by head coach Chelsea DeVille who is in her first season as the leader of the program. 
 
As a team this season, the Beavers net 65.1 points per game in comparison to their opponents' 66.7. Bemidji State also snatches 35.1 rebounds and dishes out 12.3 assists per contest.
 
The Beavers are led by sophomore guard Trinity Myer, who is averaging 14.0 points per game as well as  a team leading 5.4 boards per game. Junior center Taylor Bray is the second leading scorer for Bemidji State, averaging 10.3 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game.
 
Saturday's game will mark the 44th all-time meeting between these two programs, the most recent of which was an 77-69 loss for the Mavericks last season.
 
Looking Ahead: Next weekend, Minnesota State will make its final regular season road trip of the 2019-20 season.  Friday night, the Mavericks will take on the Augustana Vikings with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.  Saturday, MSU will take on the Wayne State Wildcats with tip-off scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
