MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team (17-10) will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., for the second round of the NSIC Basketball Tournament at the Sanford Pentagon.  The Mavericks will take on the University of Mary Sunday, March 1, with tip-off scheduled for 2:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the conference tournament semi-finals.
 
Mavericks at a Glance: Minnesota State (17-10, 13-9 NSIC), resumes postseason play with a 17-10 record after defeating the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles Wednesday night in the first round of the NSIC Basketball Tournament.

Stat Pack: As a team, Minnesota State is averaging 76.8 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 69.5. Additionally, the Mavericks average 42.3 rebounds per game and dish out 14.0 assists per game while stealing the ball 12.6 times per game.

Impact Mavericks: Sophomore center Kristi Fett is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Mavericks, averaging 10.3 points per game while pulling down 6.3 rebounds per contest. Senior guard Kirstin Klitzke is the second leading scorer for the Mavericks, averaging 9.5 points per game as well as averaging 2.9 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Tayla Stuttley is the team's third leading scorer averaging 9.1 points per game.  

Youth Movement: Several underclassmen are making an early impact for the Mavericks this season. Center Kristi Fett is averaging 10.3 points per game while also averaging 6.3 rebounds a game.  Freshman guard Joey Batt is averaging 9.0 points per game to go along with 1.5 steals per contest.  Sophomore guard Maddy Olson is averaging 6.1 points per game this season.  

Bench Squad: The bench players for the Mavericks have outscored their opponents 969-501 to date this season.

Scouting The University of Mary:  U-Mary is located in Bismarck, N.D., and are currently 22-10 (15-7 NSIC) on the season. The Marauders are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  U-Mary is led by head coach Rick Neumann who is in his seventh season as the leader of the program.  

As a team this season, the Marauders net 74.4 points per game in comparison to their opponents' 65.8. U-Mary also snatches 36.0 rebounds and dishes out 16.4 assists per contest. 

The Marauders are led by senior forward Cassie Askvig who averages 20.9 points per game to go along with 7.0 rebounds per game. Junior guard Lauren Rotunda is the leading rebounder for U-Mary, averaging 7.7 rebounds per game and 13.8 points per game.

Wednesday's game will mark the 16th all-time meeting between these two programs, the most recent of which was an 70-59 win for the Mavericks earlier this season.  

In that game, Joey Batt led the Mavericks in scoring with 17 points while adding four rebounds as Kristi Fett scored 14 while hauling in nine rebounds.  Brooke Tonsfeldt recorded a season high 14 rebounds in the win while Minnesota State forced a total of 17 turnovers.

Looking Ahead: The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the semi-finals of the NSIC Basketball tournament against the winner between Minnesota Duluth and Northern State with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
