St. Paul, Minn. --- Minnesota State sweeps the doubleheader against Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday to finish the four-game sweep. The Mavericks won game one 10-4 and game two 10-1.
 
Minnesota State (34-10, 24-7 NSIC) used the long ball to put 20 runs on the scoreboard with five different players hitting the ball over the fence.
 
GAME 1 – Minnesota State 10, Concordia-St. Paul 4
 
Three home runs led the charge for the Mavericks in the final conference game in the series as seven of the 10 runs were scored on those home runs.
Minnesota State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a three-run home run. Senior catcher 
Tom Imholte and freshman shortstop 
Nick Altermatt both singled to put runners on first and second to open the game. Junior first baseman 
Ty Buck hit the three-run blast over the left field fence for his seventh home run of the season and the three-run lead.
 
The Mavericks used the long ball again in the top of the third inning to score four more runs and take a 7-0 lead. Senior right fielder 
Jordan Hart and Buck singled and walked to put two runners on base with no outs. After an infield fly, sophomore left fielder 
Cam Kline sent his fifth home run of the season over the left center field fence. Junior designated hitter 
Ty Denzer made it back-to-back home runs after hitting his first home run as a Maverick down the left field line for a solo shot.
 
Concordia-St. Paul turned around and hit back-to-back home runs of its own in the next half inning two put two runs on the scoreboard. Senior second baseman 
Isaac Hormann and junior shortstop 
Patrick Bordewick hit back-to-back solo shots to make the score 7-2.
 
Minnesota State pushed its lead back out to seven runs with back-to-back two-out RBI singles in the top of the sixth inning. Junior pinch hitter 
Jack Mattson was hit by a pitch and Imholte to put runners on first and second. Hart and Buck both delivered with RBI singles to center field to bring across two runs.
 
A run was added to the Maverick lead in the top of the eighth inning. Senior center fielder 
Tyler Berg reached on an error and then Imholte doubled down the left field line to put runners on second and third with no outs. Altermatt lifted a sacrifice fly to left field in the next at bat to bring in the run in the inning.
 
The Golden Bears had another two-run inning with two outs for the final runs of the game as the Maverick lead shrunk to six. With two outs, senior designated hitter 
Ben Suits singled to left field and senior right fielder 
Cole Kirchoff brought him home on a two-run shot to left field.
 
Imholte, Hart and Buck all finished with two hits in the game as Buck had four RBi and Kline finished with three RBI.
 
Freshman right-hander 
Zach Gustafson started the game for the Mavericks and allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Junior right-hander 
Hunter Even (1-1) earned the win and finished the game after pitching five innings and allowing two runs on two hits with five strikeouts.
 
Sophomore left-hander 
Ryan Christopher (2-3) took the loss and pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Junior right-hander 
Connor Hurley came in for relief and pitched four and a third innings, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout. Sophomore left-hander 
Luke DeGrammont pitch the final two innings and gave up an unearned run on a hit with three strikeouts.
GAME 2 – Minnesota State 10, Concordia-St. Paul 1
 
The Mavericks complete the four-game sweep over the Golden Bears with the help of four more home runs on the day. All 10 runs scored by the Mavericks were scored in the last three innings.
 
Concordia-St. Paul took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a manufactured run. Kichoff was hit by a pitch to begin the inning, then proceeded to steal second and third base. Senior left fielder 
Jake Steckler lifted a sacrifice fly with one out to give CSP the 1-0 lead.
 
Minnesota State was able to tie the game up with the help of an error by the Golden Bears and an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning. Denzer was able to reach on the error, moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Berg and advanced to third on a groundout by junior second baseman 
Teddy Petersen. Altermatt came through with the RBI single through the left side to tie the game at one.
 
The Mavericks took the lead in the top of the sixth inning as eight batters came to the plate and four runs were scored. Buck began the inning with a double to center field and Petersen reached on a bunt single, moving Buck to third. While Kline was up to bat, Petersen stole second and Kline then singled through the right-side scoring both runs. A sacrifice bunt by sophomore third baseman 
Mitch Frederick and a Denzer walk put runners on first and second with one out. Mattson made his second pinch hit appearance of the day and came through with a double down the left field line, bringing in Kline. Imholte reached and ended up at second on a fielder's choice, while Mattson ended up on third. Both runners then advanced on a wild pitch, bringing in the final run of the inning.
 
Minnesota State blew the game open with five runs in the top of the seventh inning, highlighted by four home runs in the inning. With one out, Buck hit his second home run of the day and eighth of the season on a solo shot to left field. In the next at bat, Petersen doubled down the left field line and Kline brought the run in on his second home run of the day and sixth of the season on a two-run shot to left center field. After the second out, freshman pinch hitter 
Rob Meidl and sophomore pinch hitter 
Jack Waletich hit back-to-back solo shots for the final two runs of the inning. Those home runs were both Meidl's and Waletich's first collegiate home run.
 
Kline finished the game going three-for-three at the plate and driving in four runs in during game two. Altermatt, Buck and Petersen all also had two hits in the game.
 
Freshman right-hander 
Jack Zigan (4-2) nearly went the distance pitching six and two-thirds innings in the win, allowing one run on five hits and two walks and striking out seven. Junior right-hander 
Jack Rasmussen came in to get the final out on a line out to left field.
 
Senior right-hander 
Ben Suits started for the Golden Bears and went three scoreless innings, giving up four hits and striking out four. Sophomore right-hander 
Ross Bastyr (0-2) took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned runs) on five hits and two walks. Junior right-hander 
Ray Wellner pitched two-thirds of an inning and did not allow a run. Senior right-hander 
Nate Stolte also pitched two-thirds of an inning and gave up three runs on three hits. Senior right-hander 
Isaac Hormann allowed two runs on two hits before getting the final out for the Golden Bears.
 
Minnesota State will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., for the second straight week, this time to take on Sioux Falls. The mid-week series will be played on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
