WINONA, Minn. --- Minnesota State opened its NSIC schedule with a 6-1 loss to Winona State on the road Friday evening.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 1-3, including a 0-1 NSIC record. With the win, the Warriors improve to 1-1 on the season, including a 0-1 conference record.
WSU won all three of the doubles matches to go up 1-0. Senior

Abby Smith nearly won the No. 3 doubles match but they fell to the duo of Mya Lubben and Caitlin Anderson 7-6.
Winona State then won five of the sixth singles matches to claim the 6-1 win. MSU's lone singles win came courtesy of senior
Erin Streeter who posted a 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 win over Beth Murman in the No. 1 singles match.
The No. 3 singles match saw sophomore
Tyanna Washa go to a third set against Kaisey Skibba, but it was Skibba who was able to come away with the 6-2, 3-6, 10-3 win. Bresnahan also went to a third set in the No. 5 singles match, but WSU's Faith Young was able to claim the 3-6 7-5, 11-9 victory.
Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday as it takes on the Upper Iowa Peacocks in Winona, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
