Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State University Women's Basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a 91-74 win against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds 91-74.  The game was an exhibition for the Mavericks and does not effect the teams record for the season.
The Mavericks got on the board early and often, taking the first lead of the night a minute into the game, and holding the lead the entire night.  All 16 Minnesota State players that saw action in the game made at least one field goal and senior guard Kirstin Klitzke led the team with 13 points.  
As a team, the Mavericks shot 47% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc while making 21-26 free throw attempts.  Minnesota State also outre bounded the Blugolds 42-29.
The first official game of the season for the Mavericks will take place next Thursday, Nov. 14, at Taylor Center.  Minnesota State will host the Northern Michigan Wildcats with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
