Kenosha, Wis. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team (3-1) improved to 3-1 on the season with a 91-83 road win against the UW-Parkside Rangers (2-5) Saturday afternoon in Kenosha, Wis.
Throughout the entire first quarter, neither team was able to pull away despite the offenses working on both sides. The Mavericks held a 24-22 edge at the end of the quarter with the bench once again proving to be effective for the team.
The second quarter started with a 7-0 run from the Rangers, which helped them build a 41-37 lead with 1:48 to go in the half. MSU finished the half with a 7-0 run however as
Rylee Menster scored on a three and a two-point jumper in the final minute to take a 44-41 lead into the break.
In the third quarter, the Mavericks outscored the Rangers 22-10 as they extended their lead, taking a 66-51 advantage into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Parkside start out with a 25-11 run to cut the MSU lead to one point. This would however be the closest the Rangers would get as the Mavericks once again gained a five point lead, forcing the game to go to fouls where MSU took care of business to earn the 91-83.
Joey Batt led the Mavericks in scoring with 17 points while recording five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Rachel Shumski, and
Menster all scored in double figures as well finishing with 15, 14 and 10 points respectively. As a team, MSU converted on 23 free throw attempts compared to only 13 from Parkside.
The Maverick's will open the NSIC schedule next weekend with home games against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday.
