MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State volleyball program has announced the signing of Morgan Ellis, Ellie Danielson, Emilee Terry and Sophie Tietz.

All signings are contingent upon admission to Minnesota State and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

A 6-3 middle blocker from Hutchinson, Minn., Ellis was a captain of the Hutchinson High School volleyball team en-route to conference championship and qualified to compete in junior nationals.  When asked what made the Mavericks stand out, she responded, "I love the campus and the environment of MSU. I also like the health career opportunities available."  Morgan intents to major in exercise science at Minnesota State University.

A 5-10 outside hitter from Farwell, Minn., Danielson was a member of the Minnewaska High School volleyball team and earned all-conference honors the last three seasons as well as most valuable hitter this season in the West Central Conference.  A perennial national honor society member and all-state performer in track and field, Ellie intents to major in communications at Minnesota State.

A 5-11 outside hitter from Mantorville, Minn., Terry was a member of the Kasson-Mantorville High School volleyball team and earned First Team All-State honors for the 2019 season.  A 4-time winner of HVL all-conference honors, Terry helped lead her team to three straight state tournaments.  In response to what helped her choose the Mavericks, Emilee responded, "The big thing for me was finding not only a school I loved for my academics but also loved the team and coaches. The Mavericks are a really competitive team in the NSIC conference. I also love how close it is to my family because I would not be the player or person I am today without them."  Terry plans to major in education at Minnesota State.

A 5-11 outside hitter from Watertown, S.D., Tietz is a member of the Watertown High School volleyball team that has made back-to-back AA South Dakota State Tournaments.  Last season, Tietz was named to the all-tournament team, and set a high school season block record with 146.  Sophie also owns the career blocks record for her high school at 326 and counting.  When asked why she wanted to join the Mavericks, she responded, "The players and coaches at MSU were so welcoming and felt like a big family. Not only did I enjoy the atmosphere of the people, but I also thought the programs and facilities were top-notch."  Tietz intends to major in business or psychology at Minnesota State.
