MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team (7-11, 4-10 NSIC) will return home to take on #24 MSU Moorhead (17-3, 13-1 NSIC) Friday, at 5:30 p.m., before facing off with Northern State (8-12, 5-9 NSIC) Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
 
Mavericks at a Glance: Minnesota State (7-11, 4-10 NSIC), enters the week after defeating Wayne State on the road 80-78 last Saturday.  Sunday, the Mavericks succumbed to a comeback from the Augustana Vikings, to lose the game 68-66.

Impact Mavericks: Junior forward Taylor Drost is the leading scorer for the Mavericks, averaging 11.8 points per game, including a career best 22-point outing against the Wayne State Wildcats, which culminated in the game winning shot. Sophomore forward Monica Muth is the second leading scorer on the team averaging 10.6 points per game.  Sophomore forward Brooke Tonsfeldt is averaging the most rebounds with 6.6 per game and also is averaging 1.8 steals per game.

Freshman Fire: Several freshmen are making an early impact for the Mavericks this season. Center Kristi Fett is averaging 5.7 points per game while also averaging 4.7 rebounds a game and leading the team with 14 blocks. Guard Rylee Menster is averaging 5.1 points per game while shooting 46.9% from the floor.

Stat Pack: As a team Minnesota State is averaging 74.8 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 74.6. Additionally, the Mavericks average 42.9 rebounds per game and dish out 14.6 assists per game and steal the ball 8.5 times per game. 

Scouting #24 MSU Moorhead:  Minnesota State Moorhead is located in Moorhead, Minn., and is currently 17-3 (13-1 NSIC)  on the season. The Dragons are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). MSU Moorhead is led by head coach Karla Nelson who is in her 19th season with the program.
 
As a team this season, the Dragons net 66.8 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 56.8. MSU Moorhead also snatches 40.8 rebounds and dishes out 12.7 assists per contest. 

The Dragons are led by sophomore guard Kiley Borowicz  who is averaging 14.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Megan Hintz is the second leading scorer for the team averaging 13.9 points per game and leads the team with 9.8 rebounds per game.  .

Saturday's game will mark the 43rd all-time meeting between these two programs, the most recent of which was an 81-63 road loss for the Mavericks last season.

Scouting Northern State:  Northern State is located in Aberdeen, S.D., and is currently 8-12 (5-9 NSIC) on the season. The Wolves are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  Northern State is led by head coach Paula Krueger who is in her 1st season as the leader of the program.  

As a team this season, the Wolves net 58.7 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 60.0. Northern State also snatches 38.7 rebounds and dishes out 12.1 assists per contest. 

The Wolves are led by junior guard Brianna Kusler who averages 11.6 points per game and also leads the team with 10.2 rebounds per game.  Freshman forward Lexi Wadsworth is the second leading scorer for Northern State, averaging 10.5 points per game.  

Saturday's game will mark the 21st all-time meeting between these two programs, the most recent of which was an 73-49 loss for the Mavericks last season.  

Looking Ahead: Minnesota State will take to the road next weekend to face off with Minnesota Crookston in Crookston, Minn., Friday, at 5:30 p.m.  The Mavericks will then travel to Bemidji, Minn. to take on Bemidji State Saturday, at 3:30 p.m.
