Burnsville, Minn.--- Sophomore defensive specialist Mara Quam was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the week in the first week of the volleyball season.  

Quam compiled 60 digs in 12 sets for a 5.00 dig per set average and was named to the USI Invitational All-Tournament team.  She racked up a season high 17 digs against Edinboro University and led the Mavericks while tying for the NSIC lead with 0.83 service aces per set (10 total).  

Quam and the rest of the Minnesota State volleyball squad will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to play in the Westminster Invitational on August 31st and September 1st.
