Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State soccer blanked the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 4-0 Tuesday at The Pitch.
The exhibition was played as three, 35 minute periods, rather than the standard two, 45 minute halves and Minnesota State dominated the whole way through. The Mavericks got the scoring started at the 20:44 mark when freshman forward, and Mankato native,
Jenny Vetter put the ball in the back of the net. The scoring continued in the second period when senior forward
Morgan Cottew scored at the 44:25 mark and then less than four minutes later, another Mankato native, senior midfielder
Maddy Burandt scored to bring the game to a 3-0 score. The final goal came in the third period when sophomore forward
Molly Riley connected to bring the final score to 4-0.
As a part of the exhibition, there was a simulated shootout at the end of the game. Minnesota State made nine of their ten attempts while UW-La Corsse made four out of their ten attempts.

Erin Leary also made one save for the Mavericks.
Lily Brock (3), Quinn Shannon (5), Kennedy Brault (2), and Meghan Cannestra (2) made a total of 12 saves for the UW-La Crosse Eagles.
The Mavericks held a 27-11 advantage in shots, including a 16-4 edge in shots on goal. In the third period, Minnesota State attempted nine shots compared to one by UW-La Crosse.
Minnesota State returns to The Pitch for its second exhibition game against NCAA DIII Gustavus Adolphus on Friday at 5:00 p.m. The Mavericks will play their final exhibition game at NCAA DIII Luther in Decorah, Iowa on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
