MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State head coach
Todd Hoffner has announced that
Austin Dickinson has been named the defensive line coach.
"We are excited to have Austin Dickinson join our staff as the new defensive line coach," Hoffner said. "Austin brings a wealth of knowledge to a mature and experienced defensive line position group. Coach Dickinson is a personable coach with the intensity to motivate our student-athletes."
"In addition to teaching defensive line skills, Austin will be responsible for recruiting the state of Wisconsin. Please join me in welcoming coach Dickinson and his family to Minnesota State University."
Dickinson spent the previous season at the University of North Dakota where he served as the team's offensive quality control coach. He would assist the offensive coordinator and coach the defensive scout team.
Prior to joining the Fighting Hawks, Dickson coached several positions in five seasons at Buena Vista University. His first two seasons with BVU saw him work with the offensive line and tight ends, while also serving as the team's film coordinator. In May 2014, Dickinson took over as the team's defensive line coach and recreating coordinator where he designed and implemented defensive game plans.
Dickinson also spent two seasons with Minot State as a graduate assistant during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Along with coaching the offensive line, Dickinson also served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Beavers.
As a player, Dickinson was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year starter on the defensive line at Buena Vista. In the spring of 2010, he received his bachelor's degree in exercise science at Buena Vista and he is currently pursuing his master's degree in education.
Minnesota State opens its 2018 season on Thursday, Aug. 30, as it hosts Southwest Minnesota State at Blakeslee Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
