Sioux Falls, S.D. --- Fourth-seeded Minnesota State baseball lost to top-seeded Minot State 5-2 in the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Baseball Tournament at Karras Park on Thursday afternoon.
With the loss, Minnesota State (31-16) is eliminated from the 2018 NSIC Baseball Tournament. The Mavericks will find out their NCAA Tournament fate during the NCAA Division II Baseball Selection Show at 9:00 p.m., on Sunday.
Minnesota State never led in the game as Minot State (32-15) scored two runs in the bottom of the first to go up 2-0. Minnesota State responded with one run in the top of the second, and the score remained 2-1 until Minot State added one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to push its lead to 5-1. Minnesota State plated one run in the top of the seventh, but was unable to get any closer.

Tyler Berg drove in the Mavericks' first run of the game with an RBI single in the second inning that scored junior right fielder

Dylan Dresel drove in the second Maverick run with a double to right-center field in the seventh inning that scored senior shortstop
Luke Waldek.
Senior left-hander
Aaron Rozek (7-3) started on the mound for the Mavericks — allowing five runs on six hits over six innings. Rozek struck out five, walked four and threw 93 pitches.
Andres Hackman (6-5) earned the win for the Beavers after holding the Mavericks to two runs on seven hits in a complete game. Hackman, struck out five and walked two in a 118-pitch effort.
The Mavericks outhit the Beavers 7-6, but left eight runners on base.
