Minnesota State Gets 2-1 Comeback Win over Robert Morris

PITTSBURGH, Pa. --- Minnesota State scores two goals in the third period to get a 2-1 comeback win over Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon at Colonial Arena.
 
This win gives the Mavericks five wins on the season, which matches their total from all of last season.
 
The first goal of the game did not come until the second period at the 9:26 mark, when the Colonials scored on a power-play. Jaycee Gebhard was able to beat her defender and score on the second try after the initial attempt was saved.
 
The Mavericks scored two goals in the third period that proved to be the difference in the game. Minnesota State scored its third power-play goal of the series after not scoring one yet this season coming into the weekend. Sophomore Brittyn Fleming scored her first goal since the opening series against Rensselaer at the 10:28 mark, for her second goal this season. Senior Rebekah Kolstad also got back into the scoring column at the 16:19 mark to score her team-leading fifth goal and third game-winning goal of the season. The Mavericks were able to hold on and secure the 2-1 win over the Colonials.
 
Freshman Abigail Levy moved to 5-5-2 in net as she made 33 stops on 34 attempts for Minnesota State. The Mavericks totaled another 27 blocked shots today as Freshman Anna Wilgren, once again led the way with six.
 
The Mavericks also killed off six of seven penalties today in the winning effort.
 
Minnesota State (5-5-2, 2-5-1-1 WCHA) are on the road again next weekend on Nov. 23-24. The Mavericks will travel to St. Charles, Mo., to take on Lindenwood in another nonconference series with both games beginning at 2:07 p.m.
