Box Score Crookston, Minn. --- The Minnesota State volleyball (14-7, 7-6 NSIC) team traveled to Crookston, Minn., to face the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles (4-17, 2-11 NSIC), and won the match 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17).

In the opening set the Golden Eagles took advantage early and jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the match.  The Mavericks responded furiously with an 11-5 run to give themselves an 11-9 advantage in the first set.  Minnesota State never looked back in the set and took it 25-17 to take a 1-0 advantage in the match.

The second set was evenly matched with neither team gaining a significant advantage and the set tied at 19.  The Mavericks were able to pull at the end going on a 6-2 run to take the second set and a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set the Golden Eagles once again found themselves the owner of an early 10-6 lead, which they expanded to a 14-7 lead.  Despite a late charge from Minnesota State, Crookston held on for the win 25-21 cutting the Maverick lead to 2-1. 

The fourth set proved to be all Mavericks as the team pulled ahead early, running the table to take the set 25-17.

Morgan Olson led all attackers with 18 kills and a .500 attacking percentage.  Micayla Porter led the Mavericks with 31 assists in the match and Mara Quam compiled 20 digs to go along with four service aces. 

Saturday Oct. 13^th, the Mavericks travel to Bemidji, Minn., at 2:00 p.m.  to face the Bemidji State Beavers.
