MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State volleyball team is set to travel north to play in the Max & Erma's Invitational in Aberdeen, S.D. The Mavericks open play against Minot State on Friday at 2:30 p.m., before a 7:00 p.m., encounter with No. 23 Northern State. Minnesota State will wrap up the weekend on Saturday facing South Dakota School of Mines at 10:00 a.m., and Minnesota Crookston at 2:30 p.m.
Mavericks at a Glance: Minnesota State enters the week with a 3-1 overall record. The Mavericks went 3-1 at last weekends Warrior Invitational including a thrilling 3-2 come from behind win over Gannon and two sweeps over UW-Parkside and Ohio Dominican.

Impact Mavericks: Junior
Sydney Powell leads the Mavericks with at team-best 46 kills (3.29/set) this season. Junior
Autumn Risch sets the standard with a team-high 73 assists (5.21/set). Freshman
Mara Quam has contributed a team-leading 57 digs (4.07/set).
By the Numbers: As a team this season, Minnesota State has posted 12.2 kills per set in comparison to its opponents' 11.6. Additionally, the Mavericks add 11.3 assists per set and 13.1 digs per set.
Young Talent: The freshman class has contributed 114 digs, 78 assists, 47 kills, and four blocks this season. Freshman
Mara Quam leads the Mavericks in digs with a team-high 57. Freshman
Alivia Garbe adds 40 digs and 26 kills. Freshman
Micayla Porter is also handing out 58 assists to go along with 17 digs.
Block Party: Minnesota State has posted 24 blocks this season. Sophomore
Anissa Janzig sets the pace with a team-best 13 blocks.
Bring Out the Brooms: The Mavericks posted two sweeps last weekend with wins over UW-Parkside and Ohio Dominican. Minnesota State recorded seven sweeps during the 2016 season. .
Scouting Minot State: Minot State is located in Minot, N.D., and is a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Beavers have a 3-1 overall record and most recently downed Bemidji State, 3-0. Dana Cordova is in her first season as head coach.
Sophomore Shelby Spuller leads the Beavers with 62 kills. Junior Kelsey Dewulf has a team-best 165 assists while freshman Karli Koza is notching a team-high 86 digs.
Scouting #23 Northern State: Northern State is located in Aberdeen, S.D., and is a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Wolves have a 3-1 overall record and are currently ranked 23rd in the latest AVCA Top-25 Poll. Northern State is led by head coach Brent Alridge who is in his seventh season.
Redshirt junior Hailey Busch leads the Wolves with 62 kills and adds 34 digs. Redshirt sophomore Ashley Rozell is handing a team-leading 167 assists while senior Holly Vancura is posting a team-best 39 digs.
Scouting South Dakota School of Mines: South Dakota School of Mines in located in Rapid City, S.D., and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). The Hardrockers have a 0-4 overall record and most recently dropped a 3-0 decision to MSU Moorhead. South Dakota School of Mines is led by first year head coach Jenni Bolduc.
Redshirt senior Reese Mikkella sets the standard with a team-best 20 kills. Sophomore Allie Boggs is dishing out 53 assists and junior Alye Wagner is posting 60 digs to round out the top performers.
Scouting Minnesota Crookston: Minnesota Crookston is located in Crookston, Minnesota and is a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagles have a 1-3 overall record and most recently fell to Ouachita Baptist Universtiy, 3-0. Minnesota Crookston is led by Sarah Rauen who is in her first season at the helm.
Redshirt senior Kassi Green leads the Golden Eagles with 52 kills and a .239 hitting percentage. Senior Kaycie Hagen is handing out a team-high 85 assists while redshirt senior Maggie Perrel adds 32 digs.
Looking Ahead: Minnesota State will make will open the home portion of its schedule on Sept. 14 against Winona State at 6:00 p.m.
