Minnesota State Set for Oahu Thanksgiving Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii

MANKATO, Minn. ---  The Minnesota State women's basketball team is set to take part in the Oahu Thanksgiving Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Mavericks will take on Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. (CST) Minnesota State will then wrap up the trip against Chaminade on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. (CST)

Mavericks at a Glance: Minnesota State enters the week with a 0-3 record. Most recently, the Mavericks fell to Black Hills State, 67-44, in their home opener. 

Impact Mavericks: Senior Claire Jordan paces the Mavericks with a team-best 9.0 points per game and is averaging 28.3 minutes per contest. Senior Claire Ziegler is shooting 58.8% from the field and netting 8.3 points per contest. Junior Monica Muth rounds out the top performers with a team-best 4.7 rebounds per game and adds 6.7 points per contest. 

Stat Pack: As a team this season, Minnesota State is posting 56.3 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 76.3. The Mavericks also add 35.7 rebounds per contest and 5.7 assists per game. 

Career Day: Senior Logan Anderson posted a team-best and career-high 15 points over 31 minutes off the bench against Black Hills State. She shot 46.1% (6-13) from the field and also chipped in two assists and one steal. Anderson ranks third on the team in scoring with 8.0 points per contest. 

Minnesota State History: The 2017-18 season marks the 52nd season in Minnesota State women's basketball program history, dating back to 1966. During that span the Mavericks totaled an all-time record of 704-600 (.539).

Scouting Hawaii Pacific: Hawaii Pacific is located in Honolulu , Hawaii and enters the week with a 2-1 overall record. The Sharks are members of the PacWest conference. Hawaii Pacific has won its last two games and most recently edged Simon Fraser, 82-76. The Sharks are led by seventh year head coach Reid Takatsuka.

As a team, the Sharks are averaging 77.7 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 75.3. Hawaii Pacific is also pulling down 39.7 rebounds per contest and 17.7 assists per game. 

This will be the first meeting between these two schools. 

Junior Janessa Manzano leads the Sharks with a team-high 14.3 points per game and is shooting 53.3% from downtown. Senior Jessi Reeves is collecting 5.0 rebounds per game while redshirt junior Samantha Lambrigtsen is handing out 4.3 assists per contest. 

Scouting Chaminade: Chaminade is located in Honolulu, Hawaii and is a member of the PacWest Conference. The Silverswords finished the 2016-17 season with a 3-21 (3-17 PacWest) overall record. Chaminade is led by first year head coach Arthur King. 

This will be first meeting between these two programs. 

Senior Lillia Maio netted 14.8 points per game with 8.8 rebounds last season. Senior Courtney Kaupu contributed 9.6 points per contest to while senior Kristle Henry added 8.8 points game to round out the top returnees. 

Looking Ahead: Minnesota State will return to Taylor Center to open up NSIC play hosting Wayne State on Dec. 1. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
