Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's hockey lost its home opener to No. 9 Robert Morris 2-1 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Verizon Center.
After regulation ended with the score tied 1-1,
Brittany Howard scored the game-winning goal for Robert Morris (1-0-0) 00:40 into overtime.
After neither team scored in the first period, senior forward
Amanda Conway gave Minnesota State (1-1-1) a 1-0 lead at 6:03 of the second period with her third goal of the season. Junior forward
Corbin Boyd and junior defenseman
Megan Hinze each recorded their first assist of the season on the play.
Robert Morris evened the game on a power-play goal scored at 19:48 of the second period that sent the game into the second intermission tied, 1-1. Kirsten Welsh — assisted by

Sarah Lecavalier.
Neither team scored in the third period, which set the situation for Howard's overtime winner.
Robert Morris held a 28-24 edge in shots on goal for the game.
Minnesota State recorded 33 blocked shots.
Junior goaltender
Katie Bidulka (1-1-0) made 26 saves for Minnesota State.
Senior
Elijah Milne-Price (1-0-0) stopped 23 shots in net for Robert Morris.
