Mankato, Minn. --- The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that Minnesota State forward Teddy Blueger has agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract that will take effect in the 2016-17 season. Blueger will join the Wilkes-Barre Penguins of the American Hockey League on an Amateur Tryout Contract for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. 

Blueger, 21, a four-year letterwinner with Minnesota State, served as an alternate captain as a senior with the Mavericks this year. The Riga, Latvia native finished his collegiate career with 31 goals and 77 assists for 108 points in 155 games played with his 108 points standing tied for ninth on Minnesota State's career points list. His 13 career game-winners stand tied for fourth on school's all-time list.

Named First Team All-WCHA this year, he led Minnesota State in scoring and assists as a senior with 11-24--35. He was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after a five-point game in which he racked up a goal and four assists in the first period of a 6-2 win over Alaska Anchorage (11.27.2015). He led the WCHA in assists (21 in 28 league games) this year and finished second in the WCHA scoring race (7-21--28).  He was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week once during the 2014-15 campaign after tallying four goals and assist in two wins over Bemidji State Nov. 7-8. His three goals for his first (and only) career hat trick paced Minnesota -tate to a 5-3 win over the Beavers in the second game of that series.
