Mavericks Lose to No. 3 Minnesota Duluth 3-0 on Friday Night

Senior Goaltender Brianna Quade Makes 33 Saves

Mankato, Minn. --- Senior goaltender Brianna Quade made 33 saves, but Minnesota State women's hockey lost to No. 3 Minnesota Duluth 3-0 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game on Friday night at Verizon Wireless Center.

Quade (2-8-2) made eight saves in each of the first two periods and 17 in the third period to keep the Mavericks (4-13-2, 2-12-1-0 WCHA) in the game with the Bulldogs (13-3-3, 10-3-2-1 WCHA), who outshot the Mavericks 36-14.

However, The Bulldogs were able to get two shots past Quade in the second period and added an insurance goal in the third period, which was all of the offense they would need.

Ashleigh Brykaliuk (12-11--23) scored the eventual game-winning goal at 9:07 in the second period. Less than 30 seconds later, Sidney Morin (5-8--13) scored at 9:36 to make the Minnesota Duluth lead 2-0. The Bulldogs' third and final goal was scored by Brooklyn Schugel (5-1--6) at 7:24 in the third period.

Katerina Mrazova (6-7--13), Maria Lindh (3-5--8), Sydney Brodt (3-13--16), Demi Crossman (2-5--7) and Lynn Astrup (0-3--3) each garnered one assist for the Bulldogs.

Junior defenseman Anna Keys tallied a team-high seven blocked shots for Minnesota State -- the most blocked shots in a game by Keys in 2016-17.

Maddie Rooney (12-3-3) made 14 saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

With the loss, Minnesota State is now 0-3-0 against Minnesota Duluth this season.

The Mavericks and Bulldogs return to the ice for their final-regular season meeting of 2016-17 on Saturday at 3:07 p.m., in Verizon Wireless Center.
