Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State dropped a 2-0 decision to Bemidji State in a women's Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest played in Mankato Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, in which Bemidji State outshot the Mavericks 11-4, the Beavers tallied an even-strength goal at 1:58 of the second to take a 1-0 lead. 
Emma Terres took advantage of a turnover deep in Maverick territory in gaining her fourth goal of the year.
Bemidji State took a 2-0 lead at 12:55 of the third period when 
Lauren Miller took a pass in the neutral zone and worked her way to the front of the Maverick net before lifting a backhander over 
Brianna Quade high on the stickside. Miller's goal closed out scoring in the game.
Minnesota State, which was zero-for-two on the power play, put 19 shots on goal in the contest. The Beavers were zero-for-three with the man advantage.
The Maverick's netminder 
Quade, who made 32 stops, was named the game's third star and now stands 1-7-3 on the year.
The Mavericks are 3-12-2 on the season with this afternoon's loss. Bemidji State stands 6-10-1 with today's result.
The two teams complete the two-game series when they square-off on Saturday with a 2:07 p.m., face-off scheduled.
