Box Score DULUTH, Minn. ---  The Minnesota State volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (10-25, 16-25, 25-23, 22-25) decision to Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon at Romano Gymnasium in front of 656 fans. 

The Bulldogs asserted their dominance early in the first set creating a 12-6 lead and forcing Minnesota State to burn a time out. Minnesota Duluth then went on a 8-1 run to swell the lead to 12, 20-8. The Bulldogs won the opening frame, 25-10. 

Both teams exchanged points in the second set until Minnesota State stole a one point, 13-12, edge after a Krista Hassing block. Minnesota Duluth answered with a 6-1 run to take a 18-14 lead. The Bulldogs went on to close out the set, 25-16. 

Following intermission, Minnesota Duluth built a early 12-8 advantage before Minnesota State went on a 4-0 run to lock the frame at 12. Later in the set, the Mavericks established a three point, 19-16, lead after a Sydney Powell kill. Minnesota State then went on to win the frame, 25-23. 

The Mavericks rode the momentum into the fourth frame establishing a four point, 15-11, advantage after a Sydney Geisness kill. The Bulldogs then battled back to tie the set at 20 . Minnesota Duluth closed the frame on a 5-2 run to take the fourth set, 25-22, and the match, 3-1. 

Minnesota Duluth held the edge in kills (55-48), assists (51-44) and digs (57-45).

Hassing led the Mavericks with a team-best 14 kills. Senior Rissi McNallan totaled team-high 10 digs while sophomore Autumn Risch contributed 40 assists to round out the top performers. 

With the loss, Minnesota State moves to 14-12 (8-10 NSIC) on the season. The Mavericks will return to Taylor Center on Nov. 11 against Bemidji State with first serve set for 7:00 p.m.
