Mavericks Travel to St. Cloud State & No. 2 Minnesota Duluth

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State University volleyball team is set for their final regular season road trip when it travels to St. Cloud State on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Mavericks will wrap the weekend up taking on No. 2 Minnesota Duluth with the first serve set for 4:00 p.m. 

Mavericks at a Glance: Minnesota State enters the week with an overall record of 13-11 and a 7-9 record in the Northern Sun Collegiate Conference (NSIC). The Mavericks are currently riding a four match win streak after most recently downing MSU Moorhead, 3-2. 

By the Numbers: As a team this season, the Mavericks are posting 12.6 kills per set compared to its opponents 12.2. Additionally, Minnesota State adds 11.9 assists per set and 15.0 digs per set.  

Impact Mavericks: Sophomore Autumn Risch leads the Mavericks with a team-high 10.3 assists per set. Senior Krista Hassing is totaling a team-leading 3.5 kills per set while senior Haley Fogarty contributes a team-best 4.22 digs per set. 

Helping Hand: Sophomore Autumn Risch posted a career-high 62 assists against MSU Moorhead and a match-high 54 assists against Northern State. She has totaled at least 40 assists in 12 matches this season. 

Servin' Up Aces: Minnesota State notched a season-high 12 service aces against Northern State. The Mavericks also posted 11 service aces against MSU Moorhead last weekend. Sophomore Maddie Keute contributed a career-best four service aces against MSU Moorhead. 

Under the Radar: Sophomore Sydney Powell posted a career-high 28 kills and added 17 digs against MSU Moorhead. Powell has reached at least 10 kills in nine matches this season.

On the Attack: Minnesota State notched a season-high 75 kills on its way to a 3-2 win over MSU Moorhead. 

Hot Streak: Minnesota State is riding a four match win streak which matches their longest of the season and longest NSIC winning streak since 2012. The Mavericks win streak was highlighted by a 3-2 upset win of No. 13 Northern State. 

Looking for Five: The Mavericks have not won five consecutive NSIC matches since the 2011 season. 

Scouting St. Cloud State: St. Cloud State is located in St. Cloud, Minn., and has an overall record of 8-17 and 3-13 conference record. The Huskies are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). St. Cloud State enters the week on a six match losing skid. In their most recent match, the Huskies were swept by Sioux Falls, 3-0, in St. Cloud, Minn. The Huskies are led by Chad Braegelmann, who is in his second season. 

Earlier this season, Minnesota State downed St. Cloud State, 3-1, at Taylor Center. The Huskies hold the edge in the all-time series, 47-49-1. Since 2006, the Mavericks are 15-2  against St. Cloud State. 

As a team this season, the Huskies average 11.6 kills per set in comparison to opponents 12.8. Additionally, St. Cloud State adds 10.8 assists and 13.1 digs per set. The Huskies average 1.5 blocks per set and 1.6 service aces per set. 

St. Cloud State is led by senior Marissa Kline who is posting a team-high 9.22 assists per set. Senior Macy Weller is totaling a team-best 2.65 assists per set while freshman Clara Krenz adds 4.14 digs per set to round out the top performers.

Scouting Minnesota Duluth: Minnesota Duluth is located in Duluth, Minn., and has an overall record of 22-2 and 14-2 conference record. The Bulldogs are members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate conference (NSIC). Minnesota Duluth is currently ranked No. 2 in this weeks AVCA Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs are led by Jim Boos, who is in his 14th season at the helm and is the winningest coach in program history.

Earlier this season, the Mavericks fell to the Bulldogs, 2-3, at Taylor Center. Minnesota Duluth leads the all-time series, 44-19-3, and has won the last three match ups. 

As a team this season, the Bulldogs rank third in the NSIC in hitting percentage posting  .298. They also rank fourth in assists (13.5) and kills (14.3). Minnesota Duluth also adds 14.31digs per set. 

The Bulldogs are led by redshirt freshman Emily Torve who is notching a team-best 11.9 assists per set which ranks her third in the NSIC. Sophomore Sarah Kelly is posting a team-high 3.1 kills per set while sophomore Erin Schindler contributes a team-leading 4.6 digs per set. 

Looking Ahead: Minnesota State will return home to take on Bemidji State on Nov. 12 at 4:00 p.m.
