Box Score GRAND FORKS, N. D.  ---  The Minnesota State women's hockey scored three-first period goals in Saturday afternoon's matchup against the eighth-rated Fighting Hawks.  Saturday's contest marked the fourth game the Mavericks played in overtime in the last eight matches.

Freshman Jordan McLaughlin notched two goals in the contest while fellow freshman Emily Antony recorded three assists.

Minnesota State took the reins right out of the gate in the first period.  It took the Mavericks but two minutes and 22 seconds to exhaust before sophomore Lindsey Coleman (Burnsville, Minn.) netted her second goal of the year.  A combination of senior Katie Johnson (Anoka, Minn.) and freshman Emily Antony (Plymouth, Minn.) found Coleman out in front of  UND goaltender Shelby Amsley-Benzie, giving MSU a 1-0 lead.  North Dakota tied things up just a couple of minutes later with a similar goal when Meghan Dufault tapped in her seventh goal of the season.  Junior Anna Fiegert (Landshut, Germany) and freshman Jordan McLaughlin (Grand Rapids, Minn.) regained with lead for Minnesota State at the 10:34 and 11:46 marks of the period.  Fiegert was able to snap a low shot to the bottom right of Amsley-Benzie while McLaughlin slipped through the UND defense, making a move to get Amsley-Benzie out of position, and sliding the puck with ease into the net.  UND's Halli Krzyzaniak capped of the period with a shot on the power-play from the point, beating a screened Maverick goaltender, sophomore Katie Bidulka (Oakville, Ont.), on the glove side.

The second frame featured two special-teams goals as UND notched a short-handed marker at 3:57 while Minnesota State regained their lead 36 seconds later on their remaining power-play.  Antony passed the puck up to sophomore Anna Keys (Cottage Grove, Minn.) on the right point to start the play. Keys then dished the puck to freshman Megan Hinze (Carver, Minn.) who ripped a low shot on a screened North Dakota net, hitting the twine at 4:33 to mark her first-career goal. UND tied the game up for the third time, tallying the periods last goal at 10:31 of the frame when Krzyzniak took a shot from the point, showing 4-4 on the score board.

Minnesota State continued its scoring ways in the third stanza as McLaughlin tallied her second of the game at 4:14.  A passing clinic that started with junior Sara Bustad (Stillwater, Minn.) and Antony finished with an open McLaughlin to rip home for her fifth of the year.  North Dakota tied the game up again at 17:18 when Becca Kohler backhanded in her own rebound for her 11th of the season.  The final regulation period would come to a close with UND leading MSU in shots on goal at a clip of 40-15.

In overtime, neither team was put the puck past their opposing goal line.  Minnesota State outshot the Fighting Hawks in the sudden-death period at a clip of 3-2 for a final tally of 42-18 in North Dakota's favor. The only netter in the shootout came from North Dakota's Nicole LaShomb.

Bidulka ended the game with a 37-save performance while the Maverick power play capitalized on one of its four opportunities.

Minnesota State will continue action next weekend as the host WCHA opponent Minnesota Duluth at Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato.
