#13 Mavericks Top Beavers 1-0 in Bemidji

Korey Kronforst scored the lone goal in the 64th minute to lead Minnesota State over Bemidji State Friday night

Bemidji, Minn. --- The Minnesota State soccer team scored late in a 1-0 NSIC win Friday evening. Senior Korey Kronforstt (Cary, Ill.) scored her fourth goal of the season to lead the Mavericks over the Beavers.

With the win, Minnesota State increases its record to 6-1-0 on the season and 4-0-0 in the Northern Sun.  After the match, BSU's' record drops to 5-2-0 on the season and 2-2-0 against NSIC competition.

In the first frame of action, the defense of both squads were rolling as both teams were held to no goals.  The Mavericks recorded two shots in the first 45 minutes while the Beavers posted nine.

At the end of the first half in the match, BSU held the advantage in shots and 9-2 while  Senior goalkeeper Lauren Hoeppner (Lakeville, Minn.) saved the had five saves and Beaver goalkeeper Anna Fobbe saved the one shot she was challenged with.

In the second half of play, at the 64th minute mark, Senior Korey Kronforst was able to find the back of the net when freshman Morgan Cottew (Minneapolis, Minn.) passed the ball over to Kronforst for her first assist on the season.  The goal proved to be the game winner and Kronforst's first of the season.

In the end, Minnesota State was ousted in shots by a mark of 10-15 and 7-8 stance in shots on goal.  Hoeppner claimed the win, recording her fifth shutout in 2015 and saved all eight shot she was faced with.  She also increased her record to 6-1-0 on the season.

MSU will take action next on Sunday, September 27th as they travel to Crookston, Minn., squaring up against the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota- Crookston at 1:00 p.m.
