The first half of action on Sunday afternoon couldn't get more back and fourth as each team was able to find the back of the net once. St. Cloud State took the lead in the 19th minute of the match as midfielder Kelli Santo Paulo was able to lay up a ball from beyond the center line to forward Maria Kass. Mavericks' goalkeeper, Lauren Hoeppner (Lakeville, Minn.), made an aggressive move to come out of net and play the ball, but Grass was able to beat her to it as she bounced the ball over Hoeppner at the top of the box to put SCSU up 1-0. Minnesota State was able to counter at the 30:34 mark of the half as sophomore Lexi Pszanka (Rapid City, S.D.) blasted the ball up the right side to freshman Morgan Cottew (Minneapolis, Minn.). Cottew crossed the ball over to Kronforst in the box who was able to finish off the play for her team-leading 12th goal on the year, notching the game at 1-1. The half ended with both teams tallying three shots on goal each, crediting Hoeppner and Huskie goalkeeper Brittany Plombon with two saves each.

The second half of play featured three more goals in the match. St. Cloud State was able to take a 2-1 lead at the 58:23 mark as Huskie center Sarah Benhart was able to pick up her own rebound and put it past a diving Hoeppner for her first marker of the season. Minnesota State answered just over 10 minutes later at the 69:12 mark as sophomore Jenny Hoerter (Stevens Point, Wis.) found freshman Julia Zach (Oconomowoc, Wis.) in the middle of the Huskie box. Zach made a move that forced Plombon to the left while Zach shot right to tie things up at two goals a piece. Two minutes later, Minnesota State struck again with Kronforst scoring her second goal of the game. At 71:27, junior Emily Erickson (Woodbury, Minn.) booted a ball from the left that was followed by a Kronforst header to the right side of the net cementing the victory for MSU.
