Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Athletics Hall of Fame class for 2014 will be formally inducted this Friday in Mankato.
Along with six individuals, a "team" inductee and this year's service and philanthropic award recipients will also be recognized. This year's induction is Friday, Oct. 3 with the formal induction ceremony taking place at the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner held in MSU's CSU Ballroom (registration at 6:00 p.m., program starts at 7:00 p.m.).

The new Hall of Fame members in the student-athlete category include men's track & field stand-out
Foster Dorsett (MSU 1972-76), women's soccer icon
Amber Dusosky (MSU 1999-2003), football All-American
Jeffrey Spann (MSU 1983-87) and former men's gymnastic great
Bob Wuornos (MSU 1966-69, 1971-72).
Slated for induction in the builders category are former MSU men's cross country/track & field coach
Mark Schuck and
Don Amiot, who served as men's AD and Director of Athletics from 1988-2002.
Selected for induction in the "team" category is the
men's basketball team from 1975-76.
The Jim Schaffer Service Award will be presented to Jason Beal and this year's MSU Athletics Philanthropic Award recipient is Radio Mankato.

Foster Dorsett ('76, Men's Track & Field) (student-athlete category) --- Four-year letterwinner was team captain in 1976...North Central Conference champion in 440-yd dash in 1976...NCAA All-American in 880-yard dash when he finished fifth in 1975...Served three years as Vice President and is the former President of the Bahamas Association of Athletics...Founder and head coach of the T Bird Track and field Club...Has served as team manager and travelled as team manager or head of delegation on numerous junior and elite national teams...Holds senior position with the Bahamas Ministry of Education.
Amber Dusosky ('04, Women's Soccer) (student-athlete category) --- Two-time North Central Conference Most Valuable Player (2000, 2003)...Named NCC Offensive Player of the Week six times during course of career... Three-time All-NCC First Team pick (2000, 2002, 2003)...Three-time Academic All-NCC Team selection...Named Georgene Brock Award recipient as Minnesota State's top senior female student-athlete in 2003-04...NSCAA All-American in 2000...2002 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection...Established NCC record for goals and points in a season (14 goals and 32 points in 2000)...Set NCC record for career goals (32 from 1999-2003)...Set school record with five goals and ten points vs. Missouri-Rolla in 2000...School record 30 goals and 67 points in 2002 also tallied 28 goals and 62 points in 2000...Anoka, Minn., native owns school record for career points with 211...Tallied three consecutive goals in less than 12 minutes in 11-1 win over Concordia St. Paul (9.21.2003)...Compiled ten-game scoring streak near end of 2003 regular season, going 11-5--27 in that time...Scored both Maverick goals in 2-2 NCC championship game tie with North Dakota (11.8.2003)...Selected Top Offensive Player at 2003 NCC Tournament...Helped lead Mavericks to first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2003.
Jeffrey Spann ('94, Football) (student-athlete category) -- Named Second Team All-American by the Associated Press and Second Team by The Football News in 1986...Four-year letterwinner led MSU in tackles in 1986 with 105...Had Finished second on team as a junior in 1985 with 91 stops...Miami, Fla., native earned All-North Central Conference First Team honors as a senior, honorable mention recognition as a junior...Had 19 tackles vs. the University of South Dakota (Oct. 25, 1986), 12 tackles and an interception in 21-7 win at South Dakota State (Nov. 1, 1986) and 17 tackles in 24-3 win vs. Morningside (Nov. 8, 1986)...Four-year starter, who played for the Mavericks from 1982-86, completed career with 352 tackles.
Bob Wuornos ('69, '73, Gymnastics) (student-athlete category) ---Captain and Most Valuable Player for the men's gymnastics program...Helped lead MSC to fifth-place finishes at national meet in 1968 and 1969...Finished tenth at nationals in high bar as a senior...Served as assistant coach with the MSC men's gymnastics team following graduation while working on master's degree... Served as assistant coach at Michigan State for five years and at the University of Minnesota for two years...Founder & Executive Director of the Men's Intercollegiate Gymnastics Support Program (MIGS Program) (www.migsp.org). This organization is dedicated to the preservation, protection and expansion of men's intercollegiate gymnastics...Awarded the Richard M. Aronson Special Service Award for efforts to preserve, protect and expand intercollegiate gymnastics opportunities for male gymnasts....Junior Olympic Boy's Coach since 1982 and helped develop 35 Division I gymnasts, state champions, regional and national champions qualifiers and medalists.
Don Amiot (Men's Director of Athletics/Director of Athletics) (builders category) --- Spent 1988-1998 as MSU men's director of athletics before assuming Director of Athletics role as school combined men's and women's athletic departments in 1998... Completed career upon retiring in 2002...During his 14-year tenure, the MSU men's hockey program transitioned from NCAA DIII to DI and was accepted as members of the WCHA. In addition to serving a term as chair of the NCAA DII Football Committee, he also served a stint on the DII hockey championship committee and was a member of the NCAA National Championship Committee. Under Amiot the MSU men's Department of Athletics won the NCC All-Sports Trophy five times and never finished lower than third...Helped oversee construction of Taylor Center and the new Myers Field House.
Mark Schuck ('69, '70, Men's Cross Country/TF Coach) (builders category) --- During 34-year stint as men's cross country coach (his first season was 1979-80), MSU won nine North Central Conference cross country titles (1981, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2005 and 2006) and one Northern Intercollegiate title (1979)...Nine-time league Cross Country Coach of the Year (eight times in the NCC, once in NSIC), named North Central Regional Men's Coach of the Year in 1988 and 1999...Led Mavericks to NCAA Division II cross country title in 1988 when team tied with Edinboro... Mavericks made 25 appearances at NCAA cross country meet and posted 16 top ten finishes...Served as head coach of MSU men's track and field program for 15 years - had four national individual champions during tenure and gained NCC Indoor Coach of the Year accolades in 2004, 2006 and 2008 and NSIC ITF Coach of the Year honors in 2009, 2010 and 2012... In 2006, 2009 and 2010 selected as North Central Region Indoor Men's TF Coach of Year...Four-time league Outdoor TF Coach of Year (2008 in NCC, 2009, 2010 and 2012 in NSIC) and indoor track & field team finished second in the nation in 1989...Three-time national coach of the year (2006 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track Coach of the Year and 1988 and 1993 NCAA DII Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year)...As a MSU student-athlete, participated in cross country, track and field and basketball before graduating in 1969.
Men's Basketball 1975-76 (team category) --- Under the guidance of third-year coach Butch Raymond, MSU compiled an 18-10 mark while earning a share of the 1975-76 North Central Conference regular-season championship with an 11-3 record in league play...The championship was the first NCC men's basketball title for the program... Team qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time and after dropping a 72-67 decision in double-overtime to Wisconsin-Green Bay, earned third place at regional tournament with 95-73 victory over Nebraska-Omaha...Coach Raymond was named NABC District V Coach of the Year...Senior forward Elisha McSweeney led the NCC in scoring with a 22.9 points per game average and was named All-NCC First Team...Freshman guard Gene Glynn set a league record with 9.6 assists per game...Team finished second at NCC Holiday Tournament and McSweeney was named to All-Tournament Team...Team members included head coach Butch Raymond and assistant coaches Jerry Bodelson and Gary Sailes, and student-athletes Curt Clark, Tom Fix, Gene Glynn, Elisha McSweeney, Bernie Miller, Mark Olson, Mark Ostergaard, Doug Probst, Terry Seeman, Ross Swanson, Gilbert Williams, Jeff Winter and Gene Zachow.
