Box Score Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State volleyball team beat #21 Northern State with a four-set victory by the scores of 25-23, 27-25, 12-25, and 27-25.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in NSIC play.
In set one, the Mavericks jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Wolves went on a 9-3 run to make the score 9-7, in NSU's advantage. Throughout the rest of the set, MSU and NSU battle point after point with the Mavericks able to take the set in the end with the 25-23 win. Senior outside hitter
Chandra Honebrink led MSU with six kills as sophomore middle blocker
Krista Hassing pitched in with three kills of her own.
In the second set, the score was all square 9-9 before the Mavericks went on a 9-3 run to make the score 18-12. MSU, in the end, took the set 27-25 with the help from Honebrink as she tallied up seven more kills to her stat sheet. Freshman outside hitter

Ellie Van De Steeg posted 15 helpers.
Northern State in set three was in control for the majority of the set as they built a 16-9 advantage over Minnesota State. The Wolves ended up winning the set 25-12. As a team the Mavericks committed six attack errors and accumulated a .061 attack percentage.
In fourth and final set, both teams found themselves tied up at 14-14 midway through the set. The Wolves managed to go on a 10-8 run, to go up 24-22 before the Mavericks rallied and took the set 27-25 after freshman middle blocker
Vikolia Meade got the match-winning kill.
Pacing the Maverick offense was Honebrink with 21 kills and 16 digs. Powell and Hassing each posted 11 and 10 kills, respectively, as Van De Steeg pitched in with 49 assists and
Haley Fogartyrecording a match-high 22 digs.
The Mavericks will return to the court Tuesday, as they hit the road to take on the Winona State Warriors. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
