Box Score Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State volleyball team beat MSU Moorhead with a come from behind, five set victory by the scores of 18-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 15-11.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in NSIC play.
In set one, the Mavericks were leading over the Dragons 11-8 before MSUM came storming back as it went on a 17-7 run to win the set 25-18. As a team the Mavericks had eight attack errors with a .132 attack percentage.
In the second set, MSU Moorhead was leading big over Minnesota State 18-8 and never looked back as MSUM took the set 25-13. As a team, the Mavericks committed 10 attack errors with a -.097 attack percentage
The Mavericks in set three turned things around, as they were able to build an 18-11 advantage over the Dragons. MSU went on to win the set 25-21 with the help from senior outside hitter
Chandra Honebrink, who had nine kills and a .500 attack percentage. Junior setter
Ellie Van De Steeg added 15 helpers of her own.
In set number four, the Mavericks again were able to build a 19-11 advantage over the Dragons, as MSU never looked back and took set four 25-18. Sophomore middle blocker
Krista Hassing led the Mavericks with five kills and an .833 attack percentage, as Van De Steeg added another 14 assists.
In the fifth and final set, the Mavericks and Dragons were all square at 5-5, before MSU went on a 4-0 run to make the score 9-5. The Purple and Gold were able to hold on in the end with a 15-11 set win, with Van De Steeg ending the match with the match-winning kill.
Pacing the Maverick offense was Honebrink and Hassing with 17 and 15 kills, respectively. Senior outside hitter

Sydney Powell each posted 10 kills of their own. Van De Steeg and sophomore
Haley Fogarty each had match-highs with Van De Steeg notching 57 assists, while Fogarty accumulated 26 digs.
The Mavericks will return to the court Saturday at Taylor Center against the #21 Northern State Wolves. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
