MANKATO, Minn. --- The 15th-rated Minnesota State Mavericks will take on Augustana in the second round of the NSIC Tournament on Saturday, at 8:30 p.m. The game will take place in Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Against Augustana: Saturday's game between the Mavericks and the Vikings marks the 108th meeting between them. MSU owns a 60-47 series lead against Augustana, including a 2-0 record this season

MSU head coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 19-10 record against the Vikings, including a 1-1 record on neutral sites.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State improved to 26-4 on the season as it defeated the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 76-60 in the first round of the NSIC Tournament. Junior Assem Marei recorded his 16th career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while senior Tanner Adler notched a team-high 19 points. Senior Gage Wooten added 14 points and nine rebounds in the win as well.

Five Mavericks are averaging at least 11.3 points per game including Marei who currently leads MSU with an average of 16.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Junior Zach Monaghan is averaging 13.6 points per contest, along with 8.1 assists per game as well.

Minnesota State is currently on a 10-game winning streak with five of its wins coming on the road. During that stretch, the five MSU starters have averaged at least 11.8 points per game, with Monaghan leading the way with 18.6 points and nine assists per game.

Concerning the Vikings: The Augustana Vikings enter the second round of the NSIC Tournament with a 16-13 overall record. Augustana defeated Northern State 66-64 in the opening round of the tournament and has now won its last two games, including a 79-70 win over Winona State.

As a team, The Vikings are averaging 79.4 points and 36 rebounds per game. Augustana is also shooting 45.8% from the field and 74.1% from the line.

Casey Schilling leads the Vikings with an average of 18.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Daniel Jansen is averaging 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as well.

The Vikings are coached by Tom Billeter, who is in his 11th season at the helm of the men's basketball team. He owns a 279-187 record.
