2014-15 Women's Track and Field Preseason Noteables

Elite National Talent...

The Mavericks return six individuals who competed at last year's NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. Bryanna Sudman vaulted 12'1.15" for a tenth-place finish. Morgan Stampley churned out a weight throw of 56'3.25" and a 12th-place finish. The Mavericks 4x400 relay team (comprised of Jenni Vanttinen, Taylor Glover, Madison Alexander, and Taylor Naatz) crossed the finish in 12th-place posting 3:54.83.

Also Outdoor Success...
Two current Mavericks return to the team following trips to the national outdoor championships in Allandale, Mich. Bryanna Sudman finished 20th after posting a vault of 11'9.75". Morgan Stampley finished with a 15th place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 167'6".

Current MSU Record Holders...
Two current Mavericks boast three different school records. Senior Morgan Stampley holds the indoor record in the weight throw at 59' and the outdoor hammer throw at 180'4", both set last season. Fellow senior Anna Veroeven set the outdoor triple jump record in 2012 with a mark of 39'5.75".

NSIC Success...
MSU is coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2013-14 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships. This was the best finish for the program since a third-place posting in 2010.

NSIC Takes over Mankato...
For the fourth time since 2009, MSU will play host for the NSIC Indoor Championship meet. MSU has hosted in 2010, 2012 and 2013

Superior Guidance...
This season marks the 15th year under head coach Jen Blue's tutelage. She was the NSIC Indoor Coach of the Year award in 2009 and was also the North Central Region Coach of the Year in 2009. Blue's leadership has produced fifteen individual All-Americans and four relay teams with the All-American tag.

Team Smarts...
The MSU women's track and field team was a 2014 USTFCCCA honors team recipent. This award requires a combined team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Mavericks boasted a 3.38.

In addition to the team honors, 12 student-athletes followed suit in achieving a 3.25 GPA and posting a provisional or automatic-qualifying standard for the NCAA championship in either indoor or outdoor seasons. Honors recipients included: Madison Alexander (Jr., Sheldon, Minn.); Taylor Glover (Fr., Spencer, Iowa); Grady Keding (Fr., Mosinee, Wis.); Nicole Larson (Fr., Milwaukee, Wis.); Taylor Naatz (Fr., Watertown, Wis.); Anna Ryan (Sr., Rochester, Minn.); Maddi Sjelin (Fr., St. Michael, Minn.); Morgan Stampley (Jr., St. Paul, Minn.); Bryanna Sudman (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.); Jenni Vanttinen (Jr., Helsinki, Finland); Anna Veroeven (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.); Faryn Wirkus (So., Edgar, Wis.).
