Mavericks to Take on Golden Bears On The Road

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team will travel to St. Paul, Minn. this weekend, to take on Concordia-St. Paul. The game is scheduled for Saturday and tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.

From Last Week: The Mavericks stand at 6-3 overall and 3-1 in NSIC play after defeating Upper Iowa on Friday, before falling to Winona State on Saturday.
 
Scouting the Golden Bears: CSP enters the contest with a 6-4 overall record and a 2-2 NSIC record. The Golden Bears are coached by Paul Fessler who is in his 15th season at the helm. Saturday's matchup will mark the 26th all-time meeting between the two schools in program history.

As a team, Concordia-St. Paul is averaging 68.5 points a game, while its opponents are averaging 64.8 points a clip. The Golden Bears are shooting 40% from the field, as CSP is averaging 6.6 three-pointers a game. CSP has accumulated 130 total turnovers as its opponents have totaled 130 total turnovers for the year as well. The Golden Bears also rank second in the NSIC in  blocked shots per game with 5.64.
 
The Golden Bears are led by senior forward Anika Whiting who is leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.9 points and 8.2 rebounds a game. Whiting ranks sixth in the conference in scoring and fifth in the NSIC in rebounds per game.

CSP is also led by a couple of guards in Ameshia Kearney and Mishayla Jones, who are both averaging double-digit points per game. Kearney, a senior,  is second on the team in scoring averaging 12 points a game along with 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists a game. Jones, a sophomore, is averaging 11.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists a game.

Milestone Hit: Over the weekend, senior guard Aubrey Davis recorded her 1,000 career point in Saturday's game against Winona State. In doing so, the Bloomington, Minn. native became the 21st member in MSU's history to reach the milestone. 

Double-Double Machine: Senior forward Lexie Ulfers picked up right where she left off from the week before. This past weekend, the Waseca, Minn. native posted two more double-doubles. In Friday's overtime win at Upper Iowa, Ulfers posted 17 points and 11 rebounds, while in Saturday's game against Winona State, she matched her numbers, adding 22 points and 10 rebounds to her stat sheet.
After this past weekend of games, this now marks four straight double-doubles for Ulfers.

Scoring Leaders: Senior forward Lexie Ulfers and sophomore guard Sammie Delzotto both find themselves in the top-20 of the NSIC in scoring average. Ulfers is averaging a team-high 13.9 points a game, while Delzotto isn't too far behind with 12.8 points a clip.

Board Game: Senior forward Lexie Ulfers currently ranks sixth in the NSIC in rebounds per game with 7.1 a game.

Efficient Shooting: Senior forward Lexie Ulfers, ranks second in the conference in field-goal percentage, shooting 61% (50-81).

From the Charity Stripe: Sophomore guard Sammie Delzotto is shooting 90% from the free-throw line, which ranks her second in the NSIC.

Assisting the Way: Senior guard Aubrey Davis finds herself third in the NSIC in assists per game with 3.9 

Pick Pocketers: Senior guards Aubrey Davis and Ashley Olson find themselves in the top-ten in the NSIC in steals per game. Davis is fifth, tallying 2.2 a game, while Olson sits in ninth, averaging two a game.
