Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State volleyball team beat #20 Augustana in five sets on Saturday afternoon by the scores of 17-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-14 and 17-15.
With the win, the Mavericks record improves to 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the conference.
In set one, the Mavericks were all tied up with Augustana at 13-13, before the Vikings went on a 7-2 run to make the score 20-15. The Vikings went on to take the set over MSU, 25-17. Leading the Mavericks was freshman outside hitter

The Mavericks in the second set jumped out to a 9-2 advantage over the Vikings. Augustana was able to battle back tie to the set at 17-17 with Minnesota State, before the Mavericks took the set at 25-22. Honebrink led the way with eight kills and an impressive .583 attack percentage. Sophomore middle blocker

Ellie Van De Steeg tallied 16 assists in the set.
Minnesota State in set three was all tied up with Augustana at 17-17, until the Vikings went on a 8-2 run to take the set at 25-19. Once again, Honebrink led the Maverick offense with six kills, with Powell and senior outside hitter
Jenna McNallan each adding three kills in the set.
In the fourth set, the Mavericks built a 15-9 advantage over the Vikings and ended up taking the set at 25-14. McNallan recorded five kills as Hassing posted four more kills to her stat sheet and Van De Steeg adding 14 helpers.
In the fifth and final set, the Mavericks were down 8-4 to the Vikings before Minnesota State fought back to tie the set at 10-10. The set would stay tied at 15-15 until the Mavericks went on to take the set and match at 17-15. In the set, Honbrink and Powell had five and four kills, respectively, with Van De Steeg posting 11 assists.
Overall, it was a full team effort from the Mavericks as four players had at least 11 kills and five players having at least 10 digs. Leading the way offensively was Honebrink, who posted a career-high 25 kills to go along with her 12 digs and three total blocks. Powell and McNallan each posted 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Hassing contributed 11 kills as well, with Van De Steeg posting a match-high 60 assists to go along with her team-leading 27 digs. Sophomore libero

The next time the Mavericks hit the court will be on road as they will travel west to face-off with Sioux Falls on Friday. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
