Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey team got its season underway on Friday night at All Seasons Arena against the University of North Dakota. MSU fell behind early and couldn't recover, losing to UND by a score of 5-0.
With the loss the Mavericks fall to 0-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in WCHA play while UND improves to 2-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league play.
North Dakota started the scoring at the 12:38 mark of the first period on the power play as junior
Meghan Dufault was able to sneak one by MSU goaltender
Erin Krichiver to put UND up 1-0. Just under two minutes later UND pushed its lead to 2-0 as juniors

Samantha Hanson set up sophomore
Gracen Hirschy for her first goal of the season.
North Dakota added its third goal of the game during the second period, this one by sophomore
Halli Krzyzaniak. Hirschy added two more goals in the final period of play for the hat trick to give UND a 5-0 win.
The Mavericks were 0-3 with the man advantage while UND went 1-2 in power plays. UND held the advantage on shots, outshooting the Mavericks 39-15.
Krichiver is credited with the loss, making 29 saves compared to UND goalkeeper
Shelby Amsley-Benzie's 15 saves. Sophomore
Brianna Quade came in for Krichiver and made five saves in the final 11 minutes of the game.
The Mavericks will take on North Dakota again tomorrow afternoon at All Season's Arena. The puck is set to drop at 3:07 p.m.
