Box Score Mankato, Minn --- The Minnesota State volleyball team fell to No. 1 Minnesota Duluth, 3-0 by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-18. With the loss the Mavericks fall to 7-5 overall with a mark of 3-2 conference action.
MSU held its own in the first set as the teams saw a 9-9 tie, before the Bulldogs went on a 16-6 run to end the set. The Bulldogs ended up claiming the first set 25-15. Junior
Tiana Runck tallied a team-high four kills in the set, posting a .571 hitting percentage.
The Bulldogs went on to win the second set by a score of 25-14. The set saw a 5-5 tie until UMD ended the set on a 20-9 run. MSU posted nine kills on 36 attempts with nine attack errors in the set.
The Mavericks dropped the third set 25-18, giving the Bulldogs the 3-0 victory. Sophomore
Chandra Honebrink tallied four kills on 10 attempts, while junior
Kaitlyn Braun posted six digs in the set.
Overall junior
Jenna McNallan and Honebrink finished the match with eight kills a piece. Sophomore
Ellie Van De Steeg finished the match with 31 assists.
The Mavericks will return to action as they take to the road to do battle with Bemidji State Friday, first serve is slated for 7p.m.
