Foreshadowing: On the heels of its 27-7 homecoming victory at Concordia-St. Paul last week, #2 Minnesota State returns home Saturday as it hosts the Augustana Vikings. The opening kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
Our History: The 2013 season marks the school's 87th season playing football. The Mavericks are 400-376-28 (.514) in 804 games since their inception as a varsity sport in 1922. Minnesota State is in its sixth season in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and owns a 47-9 (.839) record in league action. Over the course of its history, MSU has claimed 18 conference championships, including 16 NIC titles. Last season, the Mavericks advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.
Grabbing the Reigns: The 2013 season marks the second season with interim Head Football Coach
Aaron Keen patrolling the sidelines for Minnesota State. Last season, Keen guided the Mavericks to a 13-1 record, en route to an appearance in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. Keen currently boasts a head coaching record of 41-28, including an unblemished mark of 16-0 in NSIC play. He owns an 18-1 record at Minnesota State.
Mutual History: Saturday's encounter between Minnesota State and Augustana will mark the 44th time the Mavericks and the Vikings have crossed paths. The Vikings currently lead the all-time series with a 22-21 record. The Mavericks have won the last two encounters against Augustana, including a 52-14 win on the road last season. MSU has won its last four home games against AC dating back to the 2004 season.
Concerning the Mavericks: The Minnesota State Mavericks improved to 5-0 this past weekend as they defeated Concordia-St. Paul 27-7 at Sea Foam Stadium during the Golden Bears' homecoming weekend. MSU mustered 355 yards of total offense in its recent victory, including 222 yards on the ground.

Connor Thomas ranks second on the team with 290 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Dennis Carter leads MSU with 313 receiving yards and three touchdown catches. Junior
Austin Rieder has 174 receiving yards and one touchdown on the season as well.

Kris Fleigle leads the Maverick defense with 32 tackles. Sophomore
Josh Gordon has posted 21 tackles, including a team-high four tackles for a loss. Gordon also leads the Mavericks in sacks with 2.5. Junior
Nathan Hancock leads the team with three interceptions, while freshman
Colt Nero leads the defense with two fumble recoveries.
Concerning the Vikings: The Augustana Vikings fell to 2-3 on the season after falling to Wayne State last weekend, 10-7.
Dajon Newell leads the Augustana rushing attack with 263 yards and a touchdown, while Trey Heid has tallied 138 rushing yards and three touchdowns during the 2013 campaign.
Heid has completed 83-of-142 passes for 793 yards and five touchdowns compared to six interceptions. Noah Huisman leads the Vikings with 194 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On defense, the Vikings are led by Brandon Mohr who has tallied 49 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss.
