Box Score Crookston, Minn. --- Minnesota State nearly made a valiant comeback in the third set but was ultimately unable to overcome Minnesota, Crookston as it fell, 3-0, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday evening.

The Mavericks drop to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in NSIC action, while the Golden Eagles move to 7-8 overall and 2-5 within the circuit.

Minnesota Crookston was in control for the entirety of the second set as it established a 12-6 lead before taking the set 25-20 to own a two sets to none edge. Runck again paced the Mavericks will three kills in the set.

The third set was neck-and-neck with neither team gaining more than a two-point lead until the Golden Eagles used a pair of blocks to earn a 22-18 edge. Lexi Platz (Lafayette, Minn.) generated four kills apiece in the final set for the Purple and Gold.

Hassing totaled a team-best eight kills and .727 hitting percentage in the match followed by Platz and Runck with seven and six kills, respectively. Freshman
Haley Fogarty (Belle Plaine, Minn.) paced the Mavericks with 11 digs, while sophomore Ellie Van De Steeg (Hutchinson, Minn.) generated 32 assists and nine digs in the three-set match.

The Mavericks hit the road once again next weekend beginning Friday, Oct. 11 with a 7:00 p.m. tilt at Augustana inside the Elmen Center.
