Box Score Duluth, Minn. – The No. 10 Minnesota State volleyball team had its four match win streak ended by No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth who downed the Mavericks 0-3 by scores of 24-26, 20-25 and 14-25. With the loss the Mavericks fall to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
The Mavericks were only able to record 10 kills in the first set but also had four errors and finished the set with a .176 hitting percentage en route to a 24-26 loss.
Minnesota State couldn’t find its stride in the second set as they fell to 0-2 in the match with a 20-25 loss. The Mavericks recorded 14 kills in the set but committed seven errors and finished with a .156 hitting percentage.
The final set the Mavericks struggled offensively as they were only able to record seven kills and committed 10 errors. Minnesota State lost the set 14-25 to fall to 0-3 in the match.
Minnesota State was led by senior middle blocker #
Jill Storlie# who finished the contest with eight kills and four blocks. Senior outside hitter #
Chelsea Fogarty# and sophomore middle blocker #
Tiana Runck# each recorded seven kills in the match. The Mavericks finished the match with a .088 hitting percentage, 31 kills and 21 errors.
The Mavericks will return to Taylor Center as they host Wayne State on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Mankato.
