What Happened & What’s Ahead: The Minnesota State volleyball team (7-3, 1-1 NSIC) split in the first weekend of conference play as they defeated Sioux Falls 3-2 on Friday night and lost to No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State 3-0 on Saturday. This week the Mavericks will play three games beginning against No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul Tuesday, Northern State Friday and No.19 Minnesota State-Moorhead on Saturday.
Back 2 the Court: The Mavericks are in the middle of a five game homestand in which Minnesota State will play the No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears on Tuesday before hosting Northern State and MSU-Moorhead on Friday and Saturday. This will be the third straight week Minnesota State is set to face the nation’s second-ranked team
In the Polls: The Mavericks debuted this season at No. 23 in the AVCA Top 25 poll and after starting 7-3 (1-1 NSIC) Minnesota State now sits at No. 12 in the nation.
Keeping Up With the Conference: The No. 12 Mavericks are one of six NSIC schools in this week’s Top 25 Poll; Minnesota State is joined by No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 3 Minnesota Duluth, No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State, No. 19 Minnesota State-Moorhead and No. 21 Wayne State.
Evens are Odd: Minnesota State is 7-3 in the second set of the match and 4-2 in the fourth set of their matches this season. The Mavericks are 4-2 when they play four set matches and 1-0 in matches that go to five sets.
Can You Dig It?: Junior libero Kelli Elhardt leads Minnesota State in digs with 152 (4.0 per set). Elhardt also boasts a .964 receiving percentage only committing seven receiving errors in 192 total attempts.
