Senior Courteney Steinhauser finished the second day of the Otter Classic with 26 kills

No. 23 Minnesota State 4-0 After Cal State Monterey Bay Otter Classic

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Monterey Bay, Calif. –No. 23 Minnesota State volleyball improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season today after defeating Art-U and Dominican (N.Y.) in their first three set sweep of the season.
 
The Mavericks struggled in the first set of the day as they fell to the Knights 25-22. Senior middle blocker Jill Storlie set the tone early for Minnesota State, she recorded six kills and two blocks in the first set.
 
Minnesota State once again was able to rally in the second set of the day defeating Art-U 26-24 to draw even at one set each. Senior middle blocker Courteney Steinhauser added six kills and one block through the first two sets.
 
The Mavericks battled through a close third set, but were able to come away with the 25-23 win to bring the match to 2-1 in favor of Minnesota State. The set was tied at 21, 22 and 23 before the Mavericks were able to rally and score the final two points of the set.
 
The fourth set was all Mavericks as they came away with the 25-21 win to defeat Art-U 3-1 and improve to 3-0 on the season. Senior outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty recorded four hits in the final set, Fogarty finished with a team high 16 kills and 16 digs.
 
Storlie finished the match with 15 kills, five blocks and three digs, Steinhauser finished with 14 kills while hitting .250 and added two blocks.
 

Minnesota State played their final match of the Cal State Monterey Bay Otter Classic against Dominican (N.Y.), the Mavericks posted their first three set sweep of the season defeating the Chargers 3-0.
 
The Mavericks came out firing early as they defeated the Charges 25-16 in the first set with an impressive offensive performance, hitting .361 as a team in the set.
 
Minnesota State defeated Dominican 25-11 in the second set behind senior outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty who had 11 kills (.500 attack) and eight digs through the first two sets.
 
The Mavericks finished off the Chargers in the third set 25-16 to advance to 4-0 on the season. Fogarty led the Minnesota State charge with 14 kills (.379 attack), 10 digs and one block. Senior middle blocker Courteney Steinhauser finished the match with 12 kills (.440 attack), two blocks and one dig, seniors Jill Storlie and Kayla Berning added seven kills and six kills respectively.
 
The Mavericks will return to action as they travel to Kearney, Neb. to play in the New Victorian Inn & Suites / Runza Fall Classic, Minnesota State will face Northern State at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 7.
