Box Score Verona, Wis.—  Minnesota State (7-28-1) lost in game two of the WCHA first round playoff series to No.1 Wisconsin (30-3-2) , 4-0, inside the Eagles Nest in Verona, Wis. With the loss, MSU’s season concludes after it was shut out both playoff games by the Badgers.
 
Wisconsin’s Katy Josephs put the Badgers on the board a minute and two seconds into the game when she broke down the slot and rifled the puck past MSU sophomore goalie 
Danielle Butters low stickside. The Badgers used its high powered offense on its second goal when MSU coughed a puck up in the slot and CarolynePrevost put it up to upper glove past Butters.
 
UW’s Brooke Ammerman scored on the third Wisconsin power-play opportunity of the first period at 18:59, putting up UW 3-0 through 20 minutes.
 
MSU replaced Butters with senior goaltender 
Alli Altmann between the first and second period. The Mavericks had a good start to the second period, marking multiple scoring chances before Brianna Decker banged a goal away on a four-on-four opportunity five and a half minutes into the second period. Hilary Knight had the assist, marking her second of the day.
 
Maverick junior forward 
Lauren Smith led MSU's offense with four shots on goal.
With hit posts and quality scoring chances, Minnesota State couldn’t find the back of the net in the third with its eight shots. The Badgers outshot the Mavericks, 29-28, in the game.
