Box Score Mankato, Minn— Despite outshooting North Dakota 26-20, Minnesota State got beat 7-1 at All Seasons Arena Friday night.
Early on at the 3:06 mark of the first period,
Jocelyne Lamaoureux scored on a rebound off her sister,
Monique Lamaoureux-Kolls’ shot.
In the second period, UND’s
Josefine Jakobsen scored an unassisted goal 5:38 into the period.
Candace Molle of North Dakota found the net on a one-timer power-play goal at 14:27 into the second period. The goal was assisted by
Monique Weber to put North Dakota up 3-0.
A minute and ten seconds later North Dakota sophomore
Michelle Karvinen scored off a rebound for another power-play goal.
Josefine Jakobsen and
Jocelyne Lamaoureux tallied the assists.
Lauren Smith scored lone goal for Minnesota State at 17:29 into the second period on the power-play. Smith’s eighth goal of the season was assisted by sophomore
Tracy McCann and sophomore
Lauren Barnes. The period ended with MSU outshooting UND 20-13 in total but down 4-1 on the scoreboard.
North Dakota’s
Josefine Jakobsen scored her second goal 8:28 into the third period going through the five hole of MSU’s
Alli Altmann. UND scored its sixth of the game off the stick of
Jocelyne Lamaoureux, making it her second of the game.
Josefine Jakobsen and
Margot Miller assisted the goal at the 14:36 mark.
Monique Weber of UND scored the its final goal at with 36 seconds remaining. The goal was assisted by
Jocelyne Lamaoureux and
Ashley Holmes as the score ended 7-1. The final shots on goal ended at 26-20 in favor of the Mavericks.
The Mavericks and Sioux go round two tomorrow for Minnesota State’s senior day at All Seasons Arena at 3:07 pm.
