Box Score Madison, Wis. --- The Minnesota State women’s hockey team came up short Saturday afternoon as it was defeated, 5-0, by the Wisconsin Badgers before 1,648 fans at brand new LaBahn Arena.
The Mavericks were behind the eight ball early on as
Alev Kelter got the Badger offense going at 14:48 of the first period with her second goal of the series.
Wisconsin begun to take control when
Katarina Zgraja scored unassisted, 5:33 into the second frame and
Brianna Decker slammed home a pass from Kelter at 16:17 to give UW a three-goal advantage.
Decker would record her second goal of the contest just 29 seconds into the third period followed by a
Blayre Turnbull marker at 6:55.
Junior
Danielle Butters stopped 35 of 40 shots as MSU held the Badgers to zero-for-three on the power-play, while failing to score on its sole opportunity.
Minnesota State (4-6-2, 2-4-1-1 in WCHA) has a weekend off before concluding a six-game road trip as it travels to Ridder Arena to square off with top-ranked Minnesota. Game time on Friday November 16th is set for 6:07 p.m.
