Mavericks Tip-Off Conference Schedule Against Concordia-St. Paul

MANKATO, Minn.   —   Minnesota State women’s basketball team (3-0, 0-0 NSIC) will continue its four-game homestand as it opens conference play hosting Concordia-St. Paul (2-2, 0-0 NSIC), Saturday Dec. 1, at 5 p.m.

What’s Next?: The Mavericks women’s basketball team is 10-13 all-time against the Golden Bears, in a series dating back to 1975. Concordia-St. Paul is coming off a 71-51 win over Nebraska-Kearney, last Saturday as part of the Radisson Roseville Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Concordia-St. Paul.

Looking Back:  The Mavericks began a four-game homestand as they defeated NCAA Division III opponent Gustavus Adolphus 93-56 to improve to 3-0 on the season, Minnesota State had four student-athletes reach double-digit points led by Sophomore Jamie Bresnahan and junior Ali Wilkinson, who each tallied 15 points in the winning effort. Junior Alli Hoefer contributed 14 points and added 10 assists, and junior Hillary Paulson finished the game with 11 points.

Just A Reminder: Just a reminder the start time for Saturday’s game has been pushed back from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A Little About Concordia: Concordia-St. Paul is Minnesota State’s travel partner for the 2012-13 campaign, and currently sits 2-2 on the season, the Golden Bears opened their season with a 90-80 loss to Michigan Tech, rebounded with a 55-37 win over Bethel University, fell in the opening round of the Radisson Roseville Thanksgiving Classic to William Penn (Iowa) 75-73, and most recently defeated Nebraska-Kearney 71-51. The Golden Bears are coached by Paul Fessler who is in his 13th year at the helm and boasts a 255-112 overall record at CU and a mark of 152-66 in the NSIC.

Leading the League: The Mavericks currently lead the NSIC in five statistical categories, including, scoring offense (87.7 pp/g), field goal percentage (.508), assists (23.00 ap/g), steals (14.67 sp/g), and three-point shots made (11.33 p/g)

Dropping Dimes: Junior guard Alli Hoefer scored 14 points and recorded 10 assists in the Mavericks 93-56 win over Gustavus Adolphus, the 10 assists marks a career-high for Hoefer who currently leads the NSIC in assists per game, averaging 7.0 through the first three contests of the 2012-13 campaign.

Lights Out: Minnesota State is currently shooting .508 (96-189) from the floor, compared to .403 (60-149) by its opponents. The Mavericks have made 46% (34-74) of their shots from three-point land this season while holding their opponents to 29% (13-45) from behind the arc.
