Box Score Madison, Wis. ---  The Minnesota State women’s hockey team was unable to capture a victory Friday afternoon at LaBahn Arena falling to Wisconsin 2-0.

MSUnetminder Danielle Butters made 37 saves to pace the Mavericks.

The Badgers got on the board at 14:31 of the first period when Erica Sowchuk beat Butters off assists from Madison Packer and Karley Sylvester giving UW a 1-0 lead.

Neither team found the net in the second period as Butters made 13 stops in the frame including six on the penalty-kill.

Alev Kelter provided an insurance goal, unassisted, at 6:13 of the third stanza to close out the scoring in the contest.

Butters recorded double-digit saves in each period for a game-high 37 saves,  Both teams were scoreless on the advantage as the Maverick power-play finished zero-for-three, while limiting the Badgers to zero-for-six.

Minnesota State (4-5-2, 2-3-1-1 in WCHA) goes for the series split tomorrow afternoon at LaBahn Arena with the drop of the puck set for 2:07 p.m.
