What Lies Ahead: The No. 15 Minnesota State Mavericks (7-1 overall, 0-0 NSIC) are set to begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action as they will host Winona State on Tuesday and No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday. The Warriors of Winona State possess a 5-3 overall record while Southwest Minnesota State currently owns a 6-2 overall record.
A Look Back: The Minnesota State Maverick spent last Friday and Saturday in Bolivar, Mo., where they competed in the Southwest Baptist Purple Bash. The Mavericks went 3-1 over the weekend including wins against Truman State (3-2), Arkansas Ft. Smith (3-2) and Northwest Missouri State (3-0). The lone Mavericks loss, their first of the year, came at the hands of Colorado School of Mines (1-3).
Welcome to the 1,000 dig club: Alli Rice (Owatonna, Minn.) became the eighth Maverick to join the MSU 1,000 dig club this weekend as she recorded her 1,000th dig against Truman State. Rice has now recorded 115 digs this year, leaving her with 1,051 in her Maverick career. Before Rice, the last Maverick to join the 1,000 dig club was Ashley Nachreiner in 2008. Rice has averaged 312 digs per season throughout her first three years. In 2009, Rice set the MSU record for digs in a single season recording 480.
