Box Score MANKATO, Minn. – The No. 15 Minnesota State Mavericks continued their winning ways and opened their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule with a 3-1 victory over Winona State at Bresnan Arena Tuesday night.
The Mavericks (7-1, 1-0 NSIC) took the first two sets, winning both 25-15, but dropped the third set,14-25. MSU then finished the Warriors in the fourth, taking the set, 25-19.
In the match, junior outside hitter
Chelsea Fogarty racked up 19 kills on 40 attempts, while junior middle blocker
Jill Storlie finished with 17 kills. Senior setter
Brittany Stamer added a game-high 46 assists.
Senior defensive specialist
Alli Rice, sophomore outside hitter
Jenna McNallan and Stamer each tallied 14 in the contest. Storlie finished with a team-best five blocks while Rice contributed two service aces.
Minnesota State returns to action Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., when it hosts Southwest Minnesota State.
