What Lies Ahead: 
The Minnesota State football ends their two-game homestand Saturday as it hosts Minnesota, Crookston, in a 1 p.m., kick from Blakeslee Stadium.  Saturday's game represents Family Weekend on the campus of Minnesota State University.

A Little History Lesson:
The 2011 season marks the school's 85th season playing football.  The Mavericks are 374-373-28 (.501) in 775 games since their inception as a varsity sport in 1922.  Minnesota State is in its fourth season in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and owns a 24-7 record in league action.  Over the course of its history, MSU has claimed 17 conference championships including 15 NIC titles.

What's in a Win:  A win would give MSU its 375th win in school history...A victory would be the 27th victory for head coach Todd Hoffner at MSU and the 73rd victory of his career...A win would give MSU its 25th victory in the Northern Sun Conference...It would also give MSU a its second straight win over Minnesota, Crookston and its first in the city of Mankato.

Scouting Minnesota, Crookston:  Minnesota, Crookston enters Saturday's game with a 1-1 record and are coming off a 35-24 loss to Wayne State last weekend.  
    
The Golden Eagles, which led 24-21 at the half, were outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter in the loss.  UMC picked up 262 yards of rushing but only passed for 71 yards while allowing 220 yards through the air.  Junior running back Richard Haley rushed 30 times for 154 yards and a score in the loss while freshman running back A.J. Barge rushed 16 times for 96 yards and two scores.
    
Defensively, junior defensive back Tevin Kellum recorded 13 tackles, including nine solo stops, while Freedom McCullough had 10 tackles, including seven solo stops. Minnesota, Crookston is coached by Chuck Moller, who is in his first season with the program.

Series Notes:  Saturday's game is the second-ever meeting between the two schools and the first in the city of Mankato...Last year, MSU won the maiden match-up between the two institutions, 42-3 on a sun-drenched Saturday in Crookston...Offensively, junior wideout Adam Thielen is the school's active leading receiver against the Golden Eagles as he caught one pass for 40 yards...Senior cornerback Andre LaGrone and junior linebacker Ross Jirgl each had four tackles in last year's game and are the active returning tacklers on the squad against UMC.

Weather Report:  According to weather.com, Saturday's high in Mankato calls for 68 with partly cloud skies.
    
Radio Show and Weekly Luncheons: The Todd Hoffner Radio Show will air live on AM 1230 KYSM, the Fan Mankato from 7-7:30 at the downtown Buffalo Wild Wings location.  The show will be hosted by Mike Sullivan and/or Casey Lloyd, the voices of the Maverick football program and will feature head coach Todd Hoffner as the Mavericks will recap the previous week's contest and look ahead at their next opponent.  Each week a special guest will also make an appearance during the show.

Additionally, the Loose Moose will host the Maverick Football Luncheon on the Friday before each home game. Each luncheon will feature comments from Coach Hoffner as well as players and are open to everyone.  The Loose Moose will have lunch menu items available to order during this time.
