Mankato, Minn. --- The
Minnesota State Hall of Fame Selection Committee has announced that six individuals have been selected for the school’s
Athletics Hall of Fame.
The committee also announced its “team” inductee and this year’s service and philanthropic award recipients.
The new Hall of Fame members in the student-athlete category include women’s diving stand-out
Annie (Eggert) Whitson (‘83-86), men’s track star
Joe Keillor (‘94-98), All-American football defensive lineman
Chuck Gilbert (‘85-89) and former pro football tight end
Tywan Mitchell (‘95-98).
Slated for induction in the builders category are nationally-renown broadcast journalist
Brad Nessler (MSU ‘77) and and KEYC-TV sports director
Perry Dyke.
Selected for induction in the “team” category is the
MSU men’s hockey team from
1990-91.
The Jim Schaffer Service Award will be presented to
Dan Rotchadl (MSU ‘80) and this year’s MSU Athletics Philanthropic Award recipients is
Thomas Huffman (MSU ‘64).
Along with six individuals, a “team” inductee and this year’s service and philanthropic award recipients will also be recognized. This year’s induction is Friday, Sept. 30 with the formal induction ceremony taking place at the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner held in the Country Inn and Suites (registration at 6:00 p.m., program starts at 7:00 p.m.). The MSU football team hosts Winona State Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the annual Homecoming Game and the inductees will be introduced at halftime.
